Pennsylvania Wild Life Discovered

OK, I couldn't resist because this just cracked me up as it was happening. It really did feel like Neville was stalking his prey, waiting for the right moment. I think we actually heard lions roaring.

Single Exposure Exposed

Our friend and fellow photographer, Craig, of Single Exposure asked us to do some photography of his family and we were happy to give him the opportunity to be on the other side of the camera. Just wait Craig, we'll be asking for you to return the favor soon!! We actually brought our oldest daughter along for the session and at six years old, she can hold a camera pretty well! We had a great time and these boys have been trained well by their daddy - they were all smiles and eager to have their pictures taken. Thanks guys - we really had fun!

Mary Ellen & David get married

Last weekend we were a part of Mary Ellen and David’s wonderful wedding!

They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck…. Well, they will have more luck than they know what to do with!!!! And they started using that luck right away, as they were able to enjoy a wonderfully sunny and beautiful end to their wedding day!! We did enjoy Mary Ellen’s carefree approach to the rain, as she jokingly welcomed people to her monsoon wedding.

They chose to celebrate their whole day at the Willow Valley Resort and Conference Center in Lancaster, PA. They started with a morning service at the chapel immediately behind the conference center. It was a beautiful service of celebration with one of the funniest pastors we’ve ever seen!

The torrential rains that started the day cleared out just in time for their guests to blow bubbles outside as they left!! What a blessing! All their guests headed across the road to the Palm Court inside the hotel while we got all the family photos done at the church. They joined their guests for the wonderful reception with kind speeches and some incredible swing dancing!

Mary Ellen and David finished off their day with us as we utilized some unique lighting inside the hotel and then the beautiful setting sun to capture some amazing portraits.

Thanks for having us share your day it was just lovely!

David works for Comcast and edits video to produce shows. He has won two Emmy Awards for his work. If we recall correctly, one of their first dates was to the Emmy Awards!! This was certainly a tough date to top!!

Time for the Farm

Monday was the day to meet up with this fun and energetic crew. We can totally relate to this family as our children are close in age. We met at Springton Manor Farm where we just love the areas, especially down by the farm. We really enjoyed trying to capture each of their different personalities. The youngest just cracked me up as she was very much in to exploring her world and walking exactly where everyone wasn't. It is so fun to see personalities emerge at such young ages. Thanks for sharing your children with us!

First Communion and family fun

On Saturday we had the privilege of photographing this lovely family and their cutie pie puppy who had the most adorable sweater on. Anyhow, I digress about the puppy. We met this family through Kevin and Lindsay's wedding, October 2006, and these 2 girls were Lindsay's flower girls. It was so much fun for us to get to see them a year later and how they've grown. The eldest celebrated her first communion in May and just got her braces off in September so it was time to show off her new smile. We went to Hibernia Park for the fun and to capture the personality of these two and their relationship together. Thanks for such a fun time and braving the rocks and water with us!

Patrice and Patrick get married

This weekend we celebrated the wedding of Patrice and Patrick. We started off at Patrice's parent's home in West Chester for the getting ready activities, one of many parts of the day Patrice was really looking forward to. We got a few images outside before it started to rain on another uncharacteristically humid October day. After fun at the house, it was time for everyone to head into the city for the service at Old Saint Mary's. What a beautiful old church, we felt so privileged being able to shoot there. We met up with guys just before the service for some quick shots and then enjoyed the ceremony in which their family friend officiated.

After the service the wedding party piled onto a trolley to get to the Rittenhouse Hotel for the cocktail hour and reception. We eyed the sky and although it had called for some severe weather by this time of day, it was still dry in Philly so the call was made to head to Rittenhouse Square for the family formals, wedding party and time with Patrice and Patrick. Knowing that the weather could change any moment, and knowing how eager Patrice and Patrick were to join their friends and family at the cocktail hour, we moved quickly. All the while there were 3 men in the park heckling Patrice and Patrick during the photos that I don't think they'll ever forget that aspect of their day! Just as we got inside the Rittenhouse, it started to rain. We did a couple images utilizing the hotel that was full of great spaces and then the party started!

They had Chico's Vibe for the band and they did a fabulous job. At one point the horns were out on the dance floor and a limbo line was formed with them. There were great toasts and Patrice's father gave a lovely speech, lots of school anthems being sung, Irish music being played, and everyone packed the dance floor. What a great event!

Thank you Patrice and Patrick for inviting us to share in your day. We hope you have a wonderful honeymoon.

New holiday order cut off date

We have changed our holiday order cut off date to one week earlier than originally posted. The new date is November 23rd for print orders to be processed and ready in time for the Christmas Holidays. We will still except orders after that date, and will do our best to fill, but cannot guarantee they will be ready in time for Christmas.

Our eldest daughter will be having surgery the last week of November necessitating the change. Thank you for your understanding.

Cathy and John get married

Our second wedding this weekend was with Cathy and John. Another fun filled day for us with great weather... finally! We had just had a week of unseasonably warm and humid days, so we were all happy for the real fall weather to move in, just in time for the weekend. Cathy and John certainly got the weather they were hoping for!

Cathy got ready at her parent’s house in Chester Springs. We absolutely loved seeing where all the girls dresses were hanging, waiting to be put on – it provided us an opportunity to showcase the location, as well as the dresses, both at the same time!! We then headed over to St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic church in Eagle to spend some fun times with the guys. The church is so pretty and so full of light, what a nice place to have their wedding. After a few brief formal photos, we headed over to French Creek Golf Club - what a fabulous Pennsylvania setting this was with the rolling hills, yes we were excited by what we were seeing both indoors and out.

The reception started off with Cathy’s father giving an incredibly emotional speech – recognizing how important the people in his life are to him. There were tears in our eyes and a lump in our throat, by the end of it! The love and connection with their families was certainly evident by the way they interacted throughout the entire day! What fun for us to capture those emotional and connecting moments. After the tears, it was time to get busy on the dance floor and boy, did this group know how to dance. That floor was packed all night long!

Thanks for having us share in your special day.

John's twin sister and her husband are wedding photographers in the Annapolis area. It was fun capturing them being on the other side of the lens!

The next images depicts John and Cathy's relationship, fun-loving. Fortunately, Cathy's head did not land in the cake as it was done just for fun. I love the little flower girls look of concern though.

Katie and John get married

Last weekend was a busy one for us with two weddings. What fun for us - all the love and emotion doesn't stop for an entire weekend! One interesting tidbit is that both our couples had virtually the same names, Catherine and John (our third Catherine and John of the year, however all the C(K)atherine's have gone by a different name. Ah, the little things in life that amuse us!

Our first wedding on Friday was with Katie and John – what a fun and relaxed couple! We met them through my fabulous hairdresser and eye brow waxer, so of course I'm going to give Christy and Sam from La Difference Salon and Spa a shout out from us as they did a beautiful job with Katie's hair and make-up, she just looked lovely. We had so much fun working with them and their families, it truly was a day filled with fun and laughter.

A funny moment for Neville was when the ring bearer asked if I was from the Harry Potter movie!! Neville has never seen the movies or read the books, but apparently there is a character with the same name. I think the boy was less impressed with me after I told him I was not from Harry Potter!

Katie and John’s wedding was held the Crowne Plaza Hotel in King of Prussia. This allowed us to capture getting ready shots of both the girls and the guys and to make quick, smooth transitions between each part of the day. Neville hung with the guys while Lori captured the girls getting ready and then had fun with each group doing their images. The service was lovely, performed by Katie's close family friend and then we got to play with Katie and John in the hallways of the Hotel. We just love finding interesting locations and they made it so easy for us - willing to sit on the floor and I think John eventually laid on the floor demonstrating what a good sport he is!

The reception was full of more fun, laughter, and dancing and you just walked away from the day smiling. Thanks for having us share the day with you - you two are great!

Katie and her sister had a plan that only sisters could make... if Katie started to get nervous before walking down the aisle, Katie's sister was to say something mean to her:

Ah, the sign of true love:

This just cracked me up, as Katie and John started to cut the cake, all the kids started crawling on the floor to catch a close up view:

Holiday Cards Arrival

We are happy to announce the arrival of our holiday cards. We'll be sending out e-mails with the information soon, however, for those of you not on our e-mail list, give us a buzz and we'll give you the scoop.

Anouncement, anouncement, Anouououncement...

First of all, I wish you could hear the song that goes with the title of this post, just one of many from our camp days...

Although we still have weekday openings, we have only two Saturdays left for portraits before our holiday cut off date: October 20th and November 17th.

What is our Holiday cut off date you ask??? Orders need to be in to by Thanksgiving, the American Thanksgiving that is, to get processed and ready in time for Christmas.

silly, silly, oh so silly. . .

Yesterday afternoon we got to play with these two silly siblings. We had so much fun running around the yard with them and they were great sports. I love capturing laughter and fun and they were full of it. Thanks for inviting us over to play!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

It's official, today is Canadian Thanksgiving! We had the big turkey dinner yesterday with Neville's parents, who are down visiting, and Lori's mom, sister, and grandfather. Yes, we're the lucky ones as we get to host two Thanksgiving dinners each year! What a messy kitchen we have at the moment!!

Lorraine & Alex get married

This past weekend we had the pleasure of working with Lorraine and Alex. It was one of the warmest October Saturdays we've had for many years - certainly unexpected. We made use of the nice weather, however, and got lots of wonderful photos outside.

We met up with Lorraine and her girls at her parent's house in Drexel Hill. When we stepped outside to start our photos with Lorraine we were met by a US Postal Service delivery man who serenaded Lorraine from the middle of the sidewalk - another example of how our postal carriers go above and beyond!!! We got down to business and got some great stuff of the girls before heading a short distance over to St. Donato's Church in West Philadelphia. We met up with Alex and his men there and had a lot of fun with them using the old stonework of the church and the local streetscape! We have been having so much fun with the guys lately!

The service was absolutely beautiful as it contained some wonderful Philippino traditions, honoring Alex's cultural background. After the service, everyone headed up to the Norristown Farm Park for family photos and formals with the bridal party. We discovered this park just a week before the wedding - its quite the beautiful, peaceful place in the middle of the bustle of Rt.202 and Germantown Pike! We hope to be able to use this place again! By the time we got to do photos of Alex and Lorraine, the light was absolutely beautiful. After some fun using the barn and silos, we had to head off to The Presidential for the reception. Again, we were entertained by a Philippino Dance group who performed a number of traditional dances for all the guests. After this, the dance floor opened up and everyone had a blast. It was great to see how much fun and laughter everyone was having. It just felt like a joyous celebration of two wonderful lives coming together.

Alex and Lorraine - we hope you have a wonderful honeymoon and enjoy settling into married life!

Hope & Richard Engagement

We have the best job in the world!!! We feel so blessed that we get to meet so many wonderful people through the work we do, and this adorable couple of Hope and Rich is no exception! We had an absolute wonderful time meeting them for the first time over in Atlantic City. They are one of our NYC couples we are working with for 2008 weddings. They were interested in doing a beach session for their engagement, so we headed over to Atlantic City for the weekend with Lori's aunt and uncle, played some golf, caught a show (The Producers) and ate some fabulous food (thank you Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve!) and then spent Sunday afternoon with Hope and Rich. The weather was perfect for some fun in the sun. Thank you so much Hope and Rich we can't wait for your wedding! One more thing, we've decided you aren't friends. . . you're best of friends! (our apologies to our loyal blog readers, but that was totally an inside joke with Hope and Rich, but I just had to write it!)
