What a wonderful weekend we have had. Both Friday and Saturday weddings were connected by past wedding couples. What joy it is for us to see all these wonderful people again and share in another happy event. We did the wedding photography of Patrick's father 2 years ago and now we were blessed to be with everyone again for Patrick and Emily's wedding. We had not been to Bartram's Garden before, and now we can't wait to go back. What a beautiful setting, and the staff was so nice to work with. I can't believe these two little munchkins have hit their 9 month milestone! How quickly this year is going. They are now on the verge of crawling and standing , and full of plain old silliness, watch out mommy and daddy. For this session, they came out to see me in our image garden, and despite the heat, we all had a blast. I even got to give one of them their bottle at the end, ahh, what a way to enjoy life!

Last year I was given the opportunity to create portraits of peacemakers to be exhibited at the Frazer Mennonite Church annual peace fest. This year, I was honored to be asked to expand the exhibit and do portraits of peace makers throughout Chester County. 29 portraits will be on display this Saturday, May 22 from 1-5pm at Frazer Mennonite Church off Route 30 in Frazer. Before I can get into the details of this posting, I first have to make an announcement. This year, we have had an apprentice join us, Quincy Adam. You may remember him as he was one of our grooms from last year. Many moons ago, Neville started out in much the same way when David Campli, of Campli Photography in Malvern, took him under his wing. We have been ever grateful to David and wanted to pay it forward and when Quincy approached us, it seemed like great timing and a great match for us. So... welcome Quincy!

You may also remember John and Katherine, one of our wedding couples from 2007. Well, they have just welcomed their first little girl this year and Neville was thrilled to document her christening, with Quincy's help. The godparents, Faithe and Andy, were another one of our wedding couples, and as always, it is just wonderful for us to maintain these connections and see our couples grow. Thank you for sharing this next phase of your life with us.

They have now hit the 3 month milestone (well, they were actually 4 months for their session) and they are getting big! I couldn't believe the difference from their newborn session. I even got to hold one babykins while taking a quick cat nap before finishing up the session. What fun for me! Thanks little ones, can't wait for 6 months in the spring!

In honor of my Grampa

October 18, 1916 - March 2, 2010

I'm reminded this week once again of the importance of photographs. My beloved Grampa passed away at the age of 93 this week. He was my hero and I completely admired the life he and my Grammie lived. We were blessed to have him in our lives and for our children to know him. Last October, 2008, I wanted to make sure we had some portraits of him and to capture the wonderful man he was. So, Neville and I wheeled him out of his room and found some window light that was just perfect. Today, as we remember him, I'm so thankful for this image among many others we have of him interacting with our children.

His parents were one of our 2007 wedding couples and it is just wonderful seeing them at this stage of life and watch them become such lovely parents. An added bonus for me was that while he was taken a little snooze, I got to catch up with his grandparents who I haven't seen since the wedding. I love what I do!

Wow! It has been a busy fall with portraits and we are loving it, although all the rain we had in October made it a little tricky with scheduling! I was able to meet up with this lovely family with only one rain out, and although it was pretty cloudy, we still found some beautiful color in the trees. Thank you for your smiling faces and for your coordinated outfits - I just loved them, especially the pop or red color - nicely done mom!

One of our lovely wedding couples from 2007 just had twins! What a pleasure to come and see them when they were only 10 days old. Weighing in at 4lbs 13 oz and 6lbs 6 oz these two are doing just fabulous and I can't believe how calm and relaxed (although tired) mommy and daddy are. It was an absolute pleasure spending time with this new little family and to hold these little peanuts. Ahh, life is wonderful! I need to come back soon for some more baby lovin'!

We are so excited to make our official announcement about our brand new... Image Garden! Our journey began over a year ago when we started discussing creating a space for our portrait work. As with all journeys, we had our ups and down, changes of opinions and direction and almost coming to a complete stand still and then out of the blue, I walked into Michael Petrie's Handmade Gardens looking for a few plants for the front or our home. I immediately fell in love with his style and artistic flare that was showcased in his shop. Within a couple weeks he was starting our very own garden project. He took the blank canvas of our back yard and has created a work of art for us. We shared with him our goals for the space and asked him to do his thing. Well that thing he does is completely wonderful and has more than exceeded our expectations. What we love about it is the variety we have for creating beautiful images and also a lovely oasis for our family. Not only did Michael create a space for our business, but for our family and our incredibly imaginative girls.

Here are a few images I want to share with you and I hope to post some more of the fun we are having with it over the next month or two. We are so excited for the spring and what blooms are going to surprise us at that time of year.

I did my first couples maternity session this fall and absolutely LOVED it and can't wait for the next opportunity! It was such a joy to be in the same space as these expecting parents as they shared their excitement over the soon arrival of the newest member of their family. One very special moment was when they were sharing with one another what they are looking forward to and Vince's response was he was looking forward to tea parties or playing football (since they don't know what they are having). Ahh, so sweet. You both are going to be loving and fun parents. I hope our paths cross again.

Portrait Experience: too cute for words

The first thing she did when she met me was give me a great big hug, I knew immediately we were going to have a good time... and we had a fabulous time. Band Experience: The Porkroll Project

Over the summer we were asked to do a portrait shoot for The Porkroll Project for images for their 2nd album that was soon to be released. They needed some images for the inside spread of the CD involving food, fun, and a little mess. We loved the concept and were eager to shoot it but we also asked if we could do some Stringer style to a band image. They were happy to oblige and the following is that image. We're happy to say that this image made it into the design of the CD along with a couple others. We are also thrilled to tell you that the band is getting rave reviews on their new release and just won the Diamond State Blues Society Battle of the Bands and is heading for the international competition in Memphis in January! Congratulations! Check out their site for schedule and to listen to their music.

Baby Experience: Italian Market here we come!

What fun we had meeting up with this little cutie pie. Her parents wanted to capture her in her absolutely gorgeous christening gown before she grew out of it and then wanted to have a little fun. Well, we are always up for fun and we headed into the Italian Market for some crazy fun. We got there a little late and most of the street vendors had already packed up, or weren't too keen on having a baby in their fruits and vegetables, but then we found Di Bruno Brothers and they welcomed us into their shop and boy did we have fun. I'm not sure babykins was entirely amused, but we were all just giddy about it. Thanks for playing and for putting up with 4 adults who had entirely way too much fun and are easily amused! It was a blast!

Although we did capture her smiling amongst the cheese, this one is entirely my favorite, the pout is just too much!

I get a kick out of this image because we wanted to capture her in the full length of the gown to really show it off and she was just determined to keep her legs up and kicking. Baby toes are just too stinking cute!

I just had to write about Gina and Tom's first sight. They chose to do their images prior to the ceremony, which we love to do. Gina waited in Rittenhouse Square Park, across from the hotel, and had a clear view of Tom walking over to see her for the first time. What made it so fantasitc, was that there was a street band playing some very fabulous and very upbeat music. Plus, we had Gina a bit far away to get in some light on a very cloudy and overcast day. Because it had rained all night, the ground was completely soaked and Tom had to walk 2 paths to get to Gina but they could both see each other the entire time. The best part was that Tom just couldn't wait to get to Gina and just ran for her, while a ton of spectators watched and the band played on. Of course, I got teary eyed watching them, it was fantastic!

We just love the city, and all the unexpected moments thay you might find there. I think the guy with the bike glanced briefly at us, then continued on reading. . .

For Father's day, I took Neville and our 3 children out for a little daddy photo shoot. When we were all done, I thought it would be fun to have some pictures of Neville and I, since that doesn't happen too often. Our eldest, at 8 years old, thought that was a great idea. So she took our point and shoot and here is how we look now! All I did was the photoshop, cropping, in camera, was all hers - I think we may have a helper in our midst!

It was such an honor having my work on exhibit for the 2nd annual peace festival held in Frazer. I truly enjoyed the process and it was also very interesting to me seeing how my thought process evolved from when I was first approached about doing portraits for the festival, to the ultimate outcome. This weekend we had an all girls road trip to CT to visit my fabulous uncle and his wife. The added bonus was I was able to stop along the way to meet the newest member of this lovely family. I think it was the first time I did a session with them that didn't include getting wet! There was lots of sunshine, and being a New England girl, I just loved the area we were in. On Sunday we spent a lovely late afternoon with Kristy, Chris, and Bo at Valley Forge Park. We had such a nice time enjoying the late afternoon sun with them and I must say, Bo was very well behaved! (Thank goodness she didn't spy all the deer we saw!) We absolutely loved the spring grass there, we could have stayed forever! Thanks everyone, we can't wait for your August wedding!

This Saturday, May 30th, I will have a collection of 17 portraits on display at Speaking of Peace: A Festival of the Arts held at Frazer Mennonite Church from 1:00-7:00. This has been an exciting and fun project I have been working on and I'm eager to see it all come together this weekend. There will also be the work of international photographer, Sarah S. Bones, on display as well as a student photo competition. The Peace and Arts Festival is intended to encourage us all to explore what peacemaking means through music, art, and storytelling, and to be challenged to engage in a dialogue about peace. This is a free event and children's activities are also taking place. For more information you can go to http://www.frazermennonite.org/. We hope to see some of your smiling faces there!

First Year Experience: 1 Year Old

Lucky me! I had another one year old session this month and once again had a fabulous time with this little one who is just full of smiles and curiosity. We spent a lovely hour at Springton Manor Farm and we were thrilled to find a beautiful flowering tree. Thanks little one, you are just precious! First Year Experience: One year old

It's so hard to believe this little one is now one and walking (actually running!) all over the place. We headed over to Valley Forge National Park for her one year old portrait session and enjoyed the lovely afternoon weather. She also was the first to use my fun hats, leg warmers and tutus I now have and did an excellent job of showing them off. I think all the bystanders enjoyed watching her as much as us. Frieda and Andy are married

This weekend we had the wonderful pleasure of photographing the intimate wedding of Frieda and Andy. We spent a lovely 3 hours with them surrounded by 22 of their family and friends. One of my favorite moments was when I commented to Frieda that she was as giddy as a schoolgirl, and she giggled and replied "I feel like one!" That was the atmosphere all afternoon, happiness and love - what a privilege to witness and be a part of. We met Frieda almost 5 years ago when Neville photographed her daughter's wedding. How special it was that we could celebrate with them again on this new journey of their lives. Thank you for sharing your day and yourselves with us.

Holiday cut off date

Quiet for a reason...

It has been a little quiet on the blog for a good reason and I'll give you some clues:

A number of years ago, my sister and I made an agreement that when we each turned 40, we would do a special trip together. Well, the magic number arrived for her this year, so her choice was to go to Disney! We spent 7 days and visited Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Hollywood. Aside, from a very brief run into Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom in 2002, I had only been there once in 1982 (before Epcot was built!) so it was a blast being a kid again and hanging with my big sister.

Yes, I had my typical mommy guilt going, but Neville did a fabulous job of holding down the fort back home. Neville and his big brother are also doing special 40 birthdays with one another, so it is fun to see the tradition develop in both of our families.

Today I also met these two little munchkins at ages 2 1/2 months and 2 1/2 years. I loved the fact that I received a new nickname by the little 2 1/2 year old: Lor - too much fun!
