WOW

There is a book in our house that is frequently read to our children, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, in which there is a line that is repeated a number of different times by a number of different characters. It says: "Wow," said Lilly. That was just about all she could say. "Wow." Well that about sums up how I'm feeling following a three day workshop I attended last week. It was entitled Life (as an Artform) by the fabulous Jesh de Rox and wonderful Anna Kuperberg. I have so many things to say about it, but for now I just want to say "Wow".

Albums, Albums, Albums

It has been a busy January designing and completing wedding albums. Our couples have been doing the hard work of getting their selections to me or giving me the go ahead to pre-design and it has been so enjoyable reliving these special days again. Just one more reason we love doing what we do, these stories and memories stay with us beyond the wedding day. I thought I'd share some recent work with you.

Amelia and William get married

Our last wedding of the season for us was the wedding of Amy and Will. Amy had an inner model that just wanted to come out and play so we had a grand time utilizing some fantastic light at her mother's home to start with. She was surrounded by her lovely bridesmaids, mother and aunt for all the getting ready preparations. We love this time that is enveloped in so many emotions - stress, anticipation, laughter, eagerness, all the months of preparation is coming down to this day and it's finally here. Amy looked radiant in her Vera Wang gown and we loved the black detail found in it.

Amy and Will decided that they wanted to do their imagery ahead of time which is just music to our ears! In order to maximize some daylight hours, we headed over to Loch Nairn Golf Club in Avondale to meet up with the guys. Poor Will, the day before he was diagnosed with mono and we felt so bad for him. He was a trooper though, and as soon as he saw his beautiful bride, he got that sparkle in his eyes. After a quiet first sight between the two of them, we spent some time outside utilizing the picturesque PA rolling hills backdrop, before heading inside for some quick family formals.

It was time for the service performed by the extremely nice Father George Lucy. The service was cozy and warm, lit by candlelight and then Amy and Will joined their guests immediately for the cocktail hour. The reception was so lovely and still had a Christmas warmth to it. The staff at Loch Nairn did a beautiful job creating a lovely reception as well as the floral arrangements by Anne Chansonette. Lots of great dancing and despite the fact that there was an important football game happening at the same time, I was impressed that the guys didn't hang out at the bar for extended periods of time!

Thank you Amy and Will for a wonderful time. We wish you a beautiful marriage!

A Dog's Life

So here are the slobbery details... This is Bucky, a lovable and friendly dog that has warmed the hearts of his owner's mother. So the family asked us to do a portrait session as a gift for the mom for Christmas. Neville took on the challenge and loved it, we hope to meet more dogs like Bucky in the future!

Tiffany and Doug get married!

Tiffany and Doug are married and what a wonderful wedding it was! The venue was beautiful, the dress was stunning, and the couple was just fabulous. Again and again, we feel so blessed by the people we have had the privilege and joy of meeting through this life's work.

The festivities were held at the amazing Cairnwood, a photographers dream with all its hidden little treasures. This being Lori's first time there, I was smiling from ear to ear the minute we walked in the doors and saw where we would be working for the day. Tiffany did her getting ready preparations in the lovely bridal room while her wedding attendants helped prepare flowers and finalize decorations - how nice to see the attendants take over and make sure that Tiffany did not have a thing to worry about.

Doug arrived while Tiffany was kept out of sight to get ready in the Groom's room with the guys and then it was time to do some quick imagery of the girls and then the guys before heading over to Hatboro Baptist Church. Lori rode in the comforts of the limo bus with the girls, while Neville and Doug, along with 3 of the groomsmen hopped into a car. Apparently, Tiffany and Lori are very fortunate that our respective husbands survived the trip as there were some brake issues that occurred!

The service was done by candlelight with the warmth of Christmas decorations and was a wonderful service, performed by Doug's uncle who traveled from overseas to officiate. They exited by sparklers (which had to be the longest lasting sparklers in existence, and allowed Doug and Tiffany to run through them a couple times to the cheers of their guests). We then all piled onto to the limo bus and back to Cairnwood for family and wedding party shots and then some alone time with Doug and Tiffany.

The reception was filled with fun and energy, ending at midnight. The perfect ending for their fairytale wedding. Thank you, thank you, thank you Tiffany and Doug, for inviting us to be a part of such a special day and inviting us into your lives. We hope you have a wonderful honeymoon and an absolutely beautiful marriage!

Time for a little change

Hi everyone! Thought we'd have a little fun today because I need it right now. We've been helping our eldest recuperate from having her tonsils and adenoids out last week and it has been harder than we anticipated. She's a trooper and is getting better. So I needed a little change today and decided to play around with our website a little bit. Just checking in to see how observant you are! E-mail us with what change you notice and if you like it better this way or the old way. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Full of Smiles

Today we had the absolute pleasure of going downtown to photograph this adorable 6 month little boy. He was so full of smiles, as long as we were silly enough for him! I just adore this age, not quite mobile, but trying really hard. Thank you for inviting us over to play, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! If we didn't have our own children to get home to, we would have stayed all day!

Beth and Kris get married!

This past weekend we had the pleasure to work with Beth and Kris and celebrate their marriage with them. They were a perfectly matched couple for each other….. even their pastor confirmed this through their marriage preparation classes!! It was truly a November fall day, weather wise, but that didn’t deter us from getting some outdoor shots of the girls and guys before the service.

We started at Beth’s parent’s house having fun with the girls as they all got ready. Dad was even called upon to pull out his pair of pliers – all dressed in his tuxedo – to help repair one of the girl’s shoes!!

We then headed over to Advent Lutheran Church in West Chester for a beautiful service and then family formals. The reception was held at the Sheraton Great Valley Hotel in Frazer. When we arrived, we were able to spend some time with Beth and Kris alone to capture some great moments. Then it was off to the party where some great dancing moves were displayed by Beth’s brother and many others!!

It was great to celebrate with Beth and Kris – we hope they have a wonderful honeymoon and beautiful marriage.

Singing in the Rain take Two

You may recall when we posted about this little cutie pie back in June. We'll she just became a big sister so we were invited to come and play again and meet the newest addition of this lovely little family. We always enjoy our time with this family so much, thank you for always being full of sunshine!

I love this next image, not because the baby is crying, but because big sister is there trying to comfort her, you know these two are going to be good friends by this image!

Trash the Dress Stringer Style

There has been a lot of talk lately about trashing the dress. We just love this concept and there are some fabulous artists out there capturing wonderful images. So what does trash the dress mean to us? To us it is an extension of the wedding day images, a time after the wedding to get back in your gown and continue enjoying the process of photography without worrying about what may happen with the dress. For this session, it meant that traipsing through a horse field, riding a horse, sitting on a barn floor, laying in hay, is all ok and is done for the pure enjoyment of the moment and the excitement of capturing images that are a little more unique. We had a blast and love the artistic freedom of this type of session.

Sarah and Johnny were our willing participants and we went to the barn that Sarah has worked at for years. (Sarah & Johnny was a couple of ours who got married on September 1st of this year). While she was a natural around the horses, some of us took some time to warm up to them.... see next posting for the continued story! But first, a big thank you to Sarah and Johnny for letting us do our thing again!
